Anyone have suggestions on working with chocolate as an icing for decorating cookies?

I have a recipe for Italian fig cookies I'm doing for Christmas. They slice and biscuits. My idea is to melt the chocolate and draw a heart or a star with the chocolate cookie, then dipped in rainbow pills (small ball sprinkles). What tool (s) could use and I will be working w / hot chocolate? Is it possible to use plastic bag that ends when the chocolate is hot
