Chocolate-dipped Strawberries: hot or cold?

I am making chocolate covered strawberries for dessert for a picnic tomorrow

with a girl, but I'm not sure whether or not to do that tonight or tomorrow. I was thinking at first that I should melt the chocolate in the microwave and then put the lid on chocolate and take it with us, but not a lot of time between the melted chocolate and strawberries while we eat and I have the feeling that the chocolate will become in solid again. Should I dip the strawberries this evening and refrigerate them covered with chocolate and just dip them out tomorrow and cold? Which is better?
